Fair to say it’s been a bit of a weekend in the UK with Storm Darragh making its presence known and it’s a time where I’m grateful to have a battery power bank in the form of the AllPowers R600, and yes one day I’ll have that video edited.

Like others out there braving the storm I too was without power, leaving me with a choice of cracking on with some video editing on my MacBook Air or finding another reason to procrastinate and do a small test on how long can the AllPowers power my office setup.

The setup consists of

Fibre internet connection
An Eero router
Macbook Air
27″ 4k Monitor.
Apple HomePod mini.

My best guess to power all of this I thought it might have been an hour, maybe an hour and a half max. To my surprise, the small unit powered the office for over 5 hours.

The total draw from this setup did bounce a little between 35 – 40 watts and genuinely I was surprised at how little draw there was from the monitor. For reference the MacBook was a little over 25% so it was charging at full whack.

This doesn’t change my opinion of the unit however. The price is great and has come down during the AllPowers Black Friday sale, an inclusion of a invertor and a plethora of USB C ports turning this into a monster of a USB powerhouse at first glance but..

It does give an illusion it’s more capable than it really is, in so much as with all the ports it can do more than it can power wise with its 299wh battery. Although that being said with its UPS option, it’s claimed it space in my office with it uninterruptible power supply option till the storm calms down.

If you click on a link to the AllPowers website I do get a small referral fee but all the reviews I write are unbiased. So much so that a day after writing this post, my unit has packed in and doesn’t power up. I’m in contact with AllPowers and I’ll do a follow up shortly.
